MAN, DECONSTRUCTED

The 2012 Summer collection from Philippe Dubuc combines the perfect with the imperfect, calling forth a new vision of the formal foundations of elegant masculinity.

The muted palette of urban life gives the collection its tone—from deep charcoals, smoky grays, graphites and blacks to whites that are never entirely white. There are dry nuances uneven and irregular shades. Dubuc is continually drawn to these signature colours and textures, inspired by raw effects seen in plaster, cement and unfinished materials and minerals. He celebrates the full spectrum of crinkled gauze to airy veils, with unconstructed styles that shines with softness. Utilitarian details, such as inverted pockets, ergonomic darts and judiciously used cut-outs, give added relevance to each item.

Typical of Dubuc’s rigour, the collection explores the pathway where comfort and freedom are given full reign.
